Tranquility
Tranquility is the first of a new series of clocks and accent pieces for me. Just something about the designs gave me a
peace I couldn't describe, I just got lost in it. Working on this gave me that same peace. Figuring out the process to
make it and then cutting the veneer for the inlay. Sanding the face by hand and just watching it come to life.
The face is made from mahogany with a mappa inlay. Even the hands are made of walnut and cut to match the theme of
the clock.
The clock movement is the same Hermle quartz that I use in most of my clocks. It can play either Wesminster chime
or a simple bim-bam with a shutoff switch that can be programed to turn off at night and a volume control.
This is a large piece, it is 16" in diameter but only 2" thick. This same design can be produced using other woods if you
like.
I hope you enjoy the design and I hope you can get lost in it as I did. I have several designs I am working on, hopefully
